The UNESCO Global Geopark “Thüringen Inselsberg-Drei Gleichen” is currently recruiting new geopark guides for 2026. We are seeking hiking enthusiasts with an interest in nature, with or without experience in guiding hikes.
The UNESCO Global Geopark Thüringen Inselsberg – Drei Gleichen is a geopark certified according to national and international standards. It has been certified as a National Geopark in Germany since 2008. In April 2021, the geopark was accepted into the UNESCO Global Geoparks network.
UNESCO Global Geoparks holistically combine natural heritage with cultural heritage and are model regions for sustainable development. One of the main tasks of the geopark is to preserve and communicate its internationally significant geological heritage. To this end, geo-routes with a total length of over 500 km have been developed for visitors throughout the geopark.
Wooded mountain ranges and sunny castle hills tell the exciting story of the evolution of dinosaurs on the supercontinent Pangaea through their spectacular fossil finds. But the geopark has even more to offer: romantic rock gates, cool mountain streams, a tropical island, extinct volcanoes, and healing springs.
Learn the secrets of the Bromacker dinosaurs. Hike through tropical reefs with dry feet and encounter early dinosaurs in the Drei Gleichen area. You will learn these exciting (earth) stories during your training as a geopark guide.
The first meeting will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the GeoInfoCenter at the Marienglashöhle Friedrichroda (introductory meeting and introduction).
The rest of the training will take place on six dates (mostly) every two weeks at different locations in the UNESCO Global Geopark. The first scheduled dates are:
January 30, 2026, February 13, 2026, and February 27, 2026 (all Fridays).
The training is free of charge.
