GeoInfocentre at Mühlburg Castle
The two exhibitions, ‘From the clay pit to the dining table’ and ‘From the quarry to the keep – Mühlburg and its stone-rich history’, at the Mühlburg Castle GeoInfocentre provide information on the region’s building materials, along with all the associated curiosities.
How many people would it take to generate enough pressure to shape the clay shale? Are there really dinosaur fossils in the Drei Gleichen area? Was local sandstone actually exported as far as Russia?
The interactive exhibitions within the historic walls of Mühlburg Castle offer fascinating insights into the local geology for visitors of all ages. The best way to enjoy the fantastic view from the castle during opening hours is with a cup of coffee or a light snack at the on-site café. In summer, there is also an open-air cinema on the grounds.
