Mühlencafé Geraberg

Now there are four! Following Mühlberger Honig, another regional producer has been awarded the GEOfood label. Mühlencafé Geraberg is the latest participant to receive the certificate for regional origin, quality and sustainability of products within UNESCO Global Geoparks.

The Mühlencafé Geraberg is a special place where enjoyment, history and geology come together in a unique way. The café is located in the historic Braunsteinmühle, an important testament to the region's economic and industrial history. An exhibition in the building invites visitors to learn more about the geological foundations of the region, the historic mining of manganese and the use of hydropower along the gentle Gera River.

A unique café concept has been realised in this extraordinary location. The individually designed rooms offer a variety of experiences and invite you to leave everyday life behind for a moment. With great attention to detail, a special atmosphere has been created in which guests feel welcome and can relax.

When the weather is fine, the sunny terrace directly on the banks of the gentle Gera river is an ideal place to linger – nestled in the landscape of the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg – Drei Gleichen. The decoration in the mill café and around the mill changes with the seasons and features regional and natural motives.

Special attention is paid to the use of regional products: many of the cakes and tarts on offer are made with flour from grain grown in the geopark area and its immediate surroundings. This creates a close connection between culinary enjoyment, regional agriculture

The Mühlencafé Geraberg invites you to enjoy a little break and experience the fruits of nature in an environment that combines geology, history and regional identity in a special way.
